What Atlas does differently
Atlas is the first to separate mount and optics: the imaging module clicks onto the mount in under five seconds without tools. Vaonis has announced further modules, starting with a planetary module.
- Twin: Two 80 mm modules point at the same object and collect twice as much light. According to Vaonis, half the exposure time is then enough.
- Sky Guard: A fisheye camera in the mount shows the whole sky live in the app. You tap an object, Atlas slews to it.
- Rugged build: The load-bearing housing is cast aluminium, and the device is protected against dust and splashing water.
- No backward compatibility: According to Vaonis, accessories from the Vespera range do not fit Atlas.
Vaonis Atlas: price and pre-order
As Single, Atlas costs about $3,990€ 3,990 and as Twin about $5,490€ 5,490. The retailer lists this as the pre-order price until 15 November 2026. Vaonis plans the first deliveries for March 2027.

Who is Vaonis?
Vaonis is a French manufacturer from Montpellier that co-founded the smart telescope category with the Stellina. Smart telescope means: a camera instead of an eyepiece, the device finds objects by itself and processes the image straight onto your phone.
Besides Atlas, Vaonis builds three lines: Vespera as a compact travel device, Hestia as an affordable smartphone attachment and Hyperia as an observatory instrument in the five-figure range.

Where Vaonis Atlas fits in
Atlas does not compete with the Seestar, but with the expensive smart telescopes. With 80 mm it has more aperture than any Vespera, but less than the Celestron Origin.
The current Vaonis range below it – Vespera II, Vespera 3 and Vespera Pro II – is compared on our page Vaonis Vespera compared.
